The Rules
What we're about
The Speed Reader is a lifestyle publication. New posts happen sometimes and they'll be about things that people in the motorcycle/outdoors/racing anything/home improvement/leatherwork/EDC/bag/...... cool stuff spaces. These are guidelines for what to expect and some guidelines about money and what not.
There are no rules. Lifestyle is a pretty catch-all scope. This site started as a documentation effort for motorcycle racing, but I found myself wanting to share things and stories that have nothing to do with it. So it's not about that anymore. Its about all manner of pretty much anything now, like stories from Utah Motorsports Campus and Lake Powell, gear for skydiving, keyboards, musical instruments, and maybe even the occasional interjection about Allison Street Racing. If it made my life better somehow, I'm going to want to share it. If one story brought you here, look around and visit regularly. I'll try not to be boring.
This is a first-person publication. Think blog with YouTube influences. Sorry, there's no "we." This is just a dude writing stuff in a basement. It's easier to explain things that I find compelling from my own perspective than some silly subterfuge about this being a proper industry gatekeeper and why you should care.
There's only going to be new posts when there's a reason for new posts. Writing when nothing has actually happened is dull and produces dull things to read. If you're going to waste your precious workday with me, it should be as worth it as I can make it.
If I'm trying to sell you stuff because there's something in it for me, I'll tell you. Corollary: I'm never going to try and sell you stuff that I don't think is worth it. Through Allison Street, I'll be selling handmade things like custom rings and the occasional leather bit or bob. I don't have any plans to drop ship or carry inventory on behalf of other people, but if that does happen I'll be forthright about it.
Merch? Maybe. Later.
